This policy explains what data Hookboard ("we", "us") collects when you use hookboard.co, why we collect it, and how you can control it. If anything here is unclear, contact us at mike@hookboard.co.
Account information — your email address, and your name/profile photo if you sign in with Google. Sign-in itself is handled by our authentication provider, Clerk; we never see or store your password.
Content you create — the folders, boards, ad ideas, script sections, and variations you build on your boards, including any text, notes, target-belief descriptions, reference links, and copy you enter. This is the core data the product exists to store, and it's yours (see the Terms of Service for details).
Billing information — if you subscribe, our reseller and Merchant of Record, Paddle, collects your card details and processes the transaction directly; we never see or store your full card number. We keep a Paddle-issued customer/subscription reference plus your subscription tier, price, and billing dates.
Preferences — small settings like your light/dark theme choice, saved so it's consistent across sessions.
MCP connections — if you choose to connect an AI assistant (like Claude) to your account via our MCP integration, we generate a personal key scoping that connection to your own boards. See "AI assistant connections" below for what that means for your data.
We don't sell your data, and we don't use your board content to train any AI model.
Clerk — authentication (sign-in/sign-up, session management).
Paddle — payment processing for subscriptions, acting as our reseller and Merchant of Record. Card details go directly to Paddle; we never handle them.
Render — hosts our application servers and database.
Meta (Facebook) — advertising analytics, described under Cookies & tracking below.
Each of these providers processes data under their own privacy policy, in addition to this one.
Hookboard optionally lets you connect an AI assistant to your account so it can read and add to your boards directly, using a personal key scoped to your own data only. If you turn this on, whatever that assistant reads from or writes to your boards is also subject to that AI provider's own privacy policy and terms — that's a connection you control and can revoke at any time by regenerating your key from Account & Billing. We don't share your data with any AI provider unless you've set up this connection yourself.
We use Clerk's session cookie to keep you signed in, and browser local storage to remember your theme preference.
We also use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel on hookboard.co to understand which visitors go on to sign up and subscribe, and to measure and improve our advertising. It's active on the public marketing site and on the app while you're signed in, and can record page views and the fact that you started or completed sign-up or checkout. We also send a server-side copy of these same events to Meta via a conversions gateway (Stape), which does not add any new tracking beyond what the Pixel itself already records — it's a more reliable delivery path for the same events, not a separate data source. Meta processes this data under its own privacy policy; you can control ad tracking generally through your Meta ad settings or your browser's tracking-protection settings.
If you cancel your subscription, your boards aren't deleted — they're simply inaccessible until you resubscribe (see our Refund & Cancellation Policy). If you want your account and all associated data permanently deleted, email mike@hookboard.co and we'll do so within a reasonable time, except where we're required to keep billing records for legal or tax purposes.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data we hold about you. To exercise any of these, email mike@hookboard.co — we'll respond within a reasonable time.
Hookboard is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we'll remove it.
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Hookboard after a change means you accept the updated policy.
